DESCRIPTION:Climate Resilience in New Jersey \nPlease join us at a presentation on climate resilience hosted by Brookdale Community College in collaboration with the Jersey Shore Chapter of the NJ Sierra Club (in the Twin Lights Rooms\, Student Life Center\, via Parking Lot #7) on November 24\, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. \n\nSpeaker: Nick Angarone\, New Jersey’s Chief Resilience Officer and Manager of DEP’s Office of Climate Resistance. \nMr. Angarone will talk about his work on climate resilience; specifically New Jersey’s challenges as a northeastern state with disproportionate climate risks such as sea level rise\, flooding\, water and air quality degradation\, wildfires\, biodiversity loss\, and urban heat islands. Included will be comments and insights specifically targeting the Monmouth County area. Regulatory solutions\, hazard prevention\, mitigation\, and remediation/recovery efforts (including via blue acres) will be discussed. \n\nNick Angarone is New Jersey’s Chief Resilience Officer and Manager of DEP’s Office of Climate Resilience. He coordinates statewide resilience policy and serves as Vice-Chair of the Interagency Council on Climate Resilience. Please start identifying the greens in your yards that you would like to donate! Greens can be dropped off at Bingham Hall on Friday\, December 5th (front side of building\, left side). If you see the shorter\, stubbier pinecones on your walks think of Christmas Greens and pick them up! Any sort of interesting plant material or seed pod could make for an exciting addition to a wreath or arrangement! \nFRIDAY \nOn Friday\, December 5th we will start getting busy! We will have a wiring workshop of Christmas ornaments and pinecones\, and we will start our mason jar arrangements. Friday afternoon when the wreaths arrive\, we will tag and attach the pipe cleaner hangers with the aid of young volunteers! We need to set up our wreath and arrangement material. Somewhere in this activity we will put down the dreaded\, but much needed paper to protect the floors at Bingham Hall. \nSATURDAY \nOn Saturday\, December 6th we will get even busier! We will finish up any mason jar arrangements and decorate the wreaths! Finished wreaths and arrangements will then be delivered by volunteers\, a quick cleanup and we are finished!

How to convert “looking” to acutely “seeing” the creative potential in front of you\, and then how to translate it into a compelling photograph. \nIt might be the use of analogous color in landscapes. Or maybe compelling action in warm late afternoon light. Or a repetitive pattern with contrasting colors and intriguing shadows. Or…  There are numerous possibilities\, if you unite at least two of CLAP (color\, light\, action\, pattern). \nColor: Most photographers do not understand the importance of color and its role in\, not only\, conveying mood and emotion\, but in basic composition. \nLight: Photography means ‘write with light’. Nevada will discuss the personality of light at all times of the day\, from the harsh daylight to blue hour and into night. \nAction: Nevada discusses how to extract the feel of a moment using\, not only stop action\, but panning and slow shutter speeds. \nPattern: Delve into the power of impeccable framing in the camera for a compelling composition\, as well as how repetitive patterns will strengthen the flow in your images. \nNevada Wier is a photographer specializing in documenting the remote corners and cultures of the world. She is recognized for her creative and intimate approach to people\, as well as her intriguing Infrared images. She has been published in numerous national and international publications\, including National Geographic Magazine\, National Geographic Traveler & Adventure\, GEO\, Outside and Smithsonian. Her fine-art prints are featured in public and private collections\, she is represented by the Obscura Gallery in Santa Fe\, NM. Nevada is a well-known keynote speaker\, workshop\, and seminar instructor. Photo District News named Nevada one of America’s best photography workshop teachers. Nevada’s books include The Land of Nine Dragons – Vietnam Today (Abbeville Press)\, winner of the Lowell Thomas Best Travel Book of 1992 award\, and Adventure Travel Photography (Amphoto). She is currently working on two new books\, A Nomadic Vision (publication TBA) and Invisible World: Infrared Photography (publication TBA). Nevada has been featured in television productions such as: National Geographic Explorer\, National Geographic Through the Lens\, and Canon Photo Safaris. DESCRIPTION:“Rooted : Origins of American Gardening” the 2026 Philadelphia Flower Show theme explores personal stories and heritage behind gardening\, coinciding with the US semiquincentennial celebrations. RGC is organizing carpools NOW to attend the show Wednesday\, March 4. Cars would leave at 8am for arrival at 10am to the Show. After viewing the show and finishing shopping we’ll take a walk across the street to the famous Reading Terminal where we will have lots of choices for a cafe lunch. Arrival back approximately 4pm.

DESCRIPTION:Join RGC for a virtual watch party for NAL!  Open house any time from 8:30-12 on Monday March 16 at Robbyn’s house. \nThe National Affairs & Legislation Conference\, organized by the NAL Committee\, is held annually in March in Washington\, DC. 300 GCA club members attend and learn about environmental initiatives relating to the GCA’s purpose. All NAL attendees visit their congressional representatives’ offices to advocate for matters of importance to their communities. This is just one example of the GCA’s organizational power.
