Gracious Dining for a “Cottage” on the Shore

(GCA Judges)

MARY OWEN BORDEN BOWL – Open to all members. A silver bowl is awarded to the member with the best formal floral design – an arrangement suitable for a dinner party in an ocean “cottage” home.

Class 1: A silver bowl awarded to the member with the best formal floral design for a 60” round dining table covered with a white tablecloth. The table is 30” high. Fruit and accessories and multiple containers are permitted.

HORTICULTURE

(GCA Judges)

All entries must be properly identified with species and cultivar information.

RITCHIE-MOORE TROPHY

Class 1: Open to all members. Any plant propagated since June 2024. Clay or plastic pots are permitted. Pots not to exceed 4” in diameter. Maximum three pots per member. Points from October 2024 and May 2025 exhibits will be combined to award the Ritchie-Moore Trophy in June. Propagation cards are required.

EMILY AND LOUISE GOETZE BOWL AWARD

Class 2: Open to all members. A silver bowl awarded in perpetuity to a member exhibiting three different flowering specimens: two stems of each kind (genera) in three separate RGC containers. No branches or vines permitted. Outdoor material only; houseplants excluded. Must be grown outdoors for three months (annuals/biennials included). This Class may not be subdivided.

CONTAINER GARDEN AWARD (A GARDEN UNDER GLASS)

Class 3: Open to all members. A silver bowl awarded to the member exhibiting the best Terrarium, open or closed with at least three or more rooted plants labeled correctly. Natural materials may be added to enhance the design (stones, wood, moss, etc). No artificial props allowed. Terrarium must be owned for at least three months. The maximum size 12” measured height and width. To be judged 70% on horticultural merit and 30% on artistic merit. A 4”X6” white key card is required. This Class may not be subdivided.

Class 8: One stem to be displayed in a RGC container. Flower head up to 4” in diameter.

Class 20: One truss (flower cluster); should be shown half in blossom and half in bud; Leaves should entirely surround the bloom.
